I am proud to announce - on behalf of our green team Ainthinai - CTC's Green Day - a special event that will become part of CTC's yearly calendar of major events (Coastal Cleanup, Trek Polamaa, Trail Marathon, etc.) to highlight our green efforts and create awareness among the general public to think and act greener.
Over the past 2.5 years many of you volunteered in our ongoing green events to plant an amazing 4000+ saplings in and around Chennai with a significant survival rate of 71%. We can all be proud of this amazing accomplishment to make our city a greener and better place to live in. Our team initiated numerous green initiatives including major cleanups, lake restoration, set up a nurseries, fruitful collaboration with TN forest department, fabrication of tree guards, corporate green drives, segregation & recycling efforts, green workshops, rooftop gardening, source segregation initiatives, collaboration with farmers, kids tree walks, etc.
As part of this years Green Day on Sunday Nov 23rd we are teaming up with the Tamilnadu Forest Department to plant 1000+ saplings at Walajabad, just South of the city. We need the help of 200+ volunteers to make this effort a success and look forward to you joining us on CTC's green day - it's gonna be fun, it's gonna be green, it's gonna another wonderful CTC style volunteer effort which the public will look up to.
